Called 1-800-592-5499 (Bliz Customer Support), their automated message said all lines are full and that they are not taking any more calls today and to post on these forums instead.

I recently paid for 3 months of WoW and would like a refund. I realize refunds are not usually an option, but Blizzard just recently informed me that Real ID was not going to be optional on the forums but mandatory. Since the forums are a large part of my subscription experience and I will no longer be using them due to safety & privacy concerns I feel entitled to a refund.

So who to I contact? Thanks for information in advance!

Actually, it appears that you might have misunderstood the intent of the recording. That message was merely indicating that the hold queue on that telephone line is temporarily full, and was included some time ago to ensure that our players were aware that the line is still functional. Previously, during periods of high volume callers would often be left with the mistaken impression that the line was 'broken'.

Regardless, if you'd like to reach our Account Services staff to discuss the matter directly, please feel free to continue to call. It may be necessary to employ some patience and ready use of the redial button, but persistence should serve you in good stead.

I should also point out that refunds or compensation are not typically available for changing content. Here's that contact information for your convenience:

Tech support has a phone number and a webform...you are not required to post in the forums, you are simply ASKED because someone else may have gone through the same problem as you, and may know how to deal with it.

Indeed, while I understand many of the concerns that have been raised, the support provided via forum is relatively limited in nature by nature of the medium and there are multiple methods of contacting our support staff. In fact, the forum is not even the best means of contacting our Technical Support department. Customers can receive personalized attention by our Technical Support staff directly. Here's that contact information:

I have a question Mal:

Do you know if Blizzard is planning on hiring more Tech Support staff to cover the huge influx of users emailing and calling, so they don't need to wait a week for a response?

We have been in an ongoing and long term process to improve the systems we have in place to reach our players, actually. This is not in response to any planned changes, but rather simply to reach our players more swiftly and provide an improving level of service across the board.
