now i know that wow does need to fix and make sure everything is running fine but on the other hand i have heard that wow does have back up servers and my question is why don't we play on the back up server while wow is working on the original then when there done have a server restart put the original up then work on the back up server whats the worst case scenario? we cant play for an hour compared to the 5/6 the server is usually down for? i would also like to point out that when you buy a game card is gives 30/60 days that you paid for, but if the server is down and we can't play we are paying for it. just asking to help with this and thank you for your time.

Actually, the reason why this doesn't occur is because our current architecture wouldn't support such a thing. Nor would it be nearly as simple to execute as many would assume. All in all, this would be likely to cause more problems than it would solve.

Actually, maintenance periods - including unanticipated downtime - are taken into account in subscription fees and within our Terms of Use. Additionally, Game Cards are not unique, and in fact, all subscribers pay for blocks of time. The bottom line is that maintenance is necessary for the smooth running of World of Warcraft. If we could operate World of Warcraft error free 24 hours a day, every day, nothing would delight us more. Unfortunately, such a thing is not currently possible.

I'd also recommend that those arguing in this thread read my prior post, and then cease any further argument.

I believe it is possible to have a constructive discussion on this forum. Please prove me right, without further flaming.

Do I want or expect some form of repayment or game credit? Of course not. However I do expect Blizzard to understand that not all down time falls into "unexpected" and "standard maintenance.

If you feel that compensation is merited for an unusually long maintenance period, then the best method to express a desire for it is via a constructive post on our Suggestions forum. The appropriate parties will take various perspectives into consideration, then make a determination.

That said, such a thing will not generally occur until some time after the issue that caused a service interruption is resolved, and compensation is not generally considered except for substantial, unplanned interruptions. Each situation is considered on an individual basis.
