Yea i was in stormwind at the auction house, and all of the sudden i get a whisper from somebody saying that they were from blizzard and that they scanned my account and told me i broke a rule or something and that i needed to visit a website for info or my account might be suspended.

Is there any way to tell if this was real or anything, because if it is real i dont want to get suspended or anything because i didnt break any rules.

Is there any way to tell if this was real or anything?

Please somebody help. =(

There is indeed a way to tell if a whisper comes from a Blizzard Employee or not, Exolted. When you receive a whisper from a Game Master there will be a Blizz tag in front of their name. Their whisper will also show up in a special chat box.

It is also important to note that we do not warn that you might be suspended. Either the account has been found in violation of our policies or it hasn't. If you had violated our Terms of Use and warranted a suspension you would have received a whisper letting you know that you were being suspended and to check your registered e-mail address.

If you receive such a whisper in the future, Exolted, please use the Report Spam option by right clicking on the persons name in the chat window and selecting Report Spam. That will forward a report for investigation.

Q u o t e:
Alright, If you break a rule by the way do you get any chances or warnings? and is action permanent? Just wondering because im new, and i havent broken any rules that im aware of.

It depends on the violation, Exolted. In most cases we would rather give a warning and education but the penalty involved depends on the severity of the violation.

An example of how our penalty system works can be found in the following support article.
