Friend's account hacked, linked with RealID

Dear Mods,

My husband has a good real life friend that plays WoW, but on different servers from my husband and I. We RealID linked him when that feature was enabled, and learned last night that his account has been hacked. We are both now concerned about being RealID connected to the hacker and how much information or access they will have on our accounts now.

Both of our accounts do have authenticators, but can someone please explain how much information the RealID info will give the hacker until this matter is settled, and what additional measures we can or should do to protect our own accounts and email addresses from hacking/phishing scams?

Thank you!

They should only be able to see the same thing you can - names.

Great, thanks for the quick response! I'll let hubby know too. (We were a little concerned that we'd get targeted emails now, but sounds like we won't.)

Oh, it's possible, but they used to do that ingame with toon names anyway.

ALWAYS be suspicious of emails ingame or out.
