Why is Blizzard forcing names to be shown?

I know you can "opt out" by not posting, but completely avoiding the public forums that millions of WoW users utilize, cutting them out of what many find to be an enjoyable social aspect of the game, doesn't seem like a fair way of allowing people to opt out of their personal information being revealed. Specifically when you can do a Google search of random terms and have up to 2 year old WoW posts show up as relevant top answers.. which I'm sure would be able to be applied to a person's full name.

It seems like a cop out answer to a problem many people seem to have with this upcoming change.

The only real reason I can think of for this change is to deter anonymous trolling, but at the cost of how many forum users, honestly?

I seriously want to know an answer to this.
