Rules Related to "Chat" and Interaction With Other Users. Communicating in-game with other Users and Blizzard representatives, whether by text, voice or any other method, is an integral part of the Game and the Service and is referred to here as "Chat." When engaging in Chat, you may not:

(i) Transmit or post any content or language which, in the sole and absolute discretion of Blizzard, is deemed to be offensive, including without limitation content or language that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, sexually explicit, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable, nor may you use a misspelling or an alternative spelling to circumvent the content and language restrictions listed above;

Does Blizzard actually enforce this rule? I've never seen anyone get suspended/banned because they cursed...How bout you? Can we get a blue in here to give his opinion?

Our goal is to provide a top notch gameplay environment, and inappropriate language and harassment are inimical to that goal. It is for this reason that we actually take harassment very, very seriously. If you'd like to learn more about our harassment policies, and how we enforce our policies, then you might find the following articles of interest:

There's a few things to keep in mind when you're exposed to harassment:

  • Don't retaliate!
  • Use the /ignore feature. It's there to help you avoid unnecessary exposure to harassing language
  • When you submit a report, include the exact name, realm and an excerpt of the offending language
  • If the offending player by-passes the /ignore feature to contact you, please let us know
Hopefully those guidelines will help your reporting, and your gameplay, run more smoothly.

Are you really that naive? Sorry but the EULA/TOS is not a binding contract. It is a blanket contract. With many stipulations and clauses. The majority of which can't be upheld in court.

You are incorrect, I'm afraid.

Q u o t e:
Congress cannot pass a law saying you can't swear/curse. Blizzard, however, can tell you that using such language on services they own is open to repercussions.

Correct!

The real question is, can Blizzard take away our amendment (or IMPLIED) rights?

Those rights aren't taken away at all - they simply do not apply how you seem to think they do. Think of our game, forums and other sites as a great theme park. You're allowed to visit a theme park and enjoy it, but there are rules to be followed. You might have to obey a dress code, or refrain from profanity or other inappropriate conduct. Failure to abide by those rules can result in your ejection from the park. It is a similar case here.

Q u o t e:
.there is a BIG difference between cursing and harassing someone...

A matter of opinion, I'm afraid. In this case, we happen to disagree about how substantial the difference is.
