Alright, basically the WoW Community may have to become the most united it has ever been in the history of...ever.

When this comes out, we'll all be forced to show our Real ID names whether we like it or not.

The important thing here is not the effect, but the cause.

Q u o t e:

The official forums have always been a great place to discuss the latest info on our games, offer ideas and suggestions, and share experiences with other players -- however, the forums have also earned a reputation as a place where flame wars, trolling, and other unpleasantness run wild. Removing the veil of anonymity typical to online dialogue will contribute to a more positive forum environment, promote constructive conversations, and connect the Blizzard community in ways they haven’t been connected before. With this change, you’ll see blue posters (i.e. Blizzard employees) posting by their real first and last names on our forums as well.

So, the way i see it, we have a good chance of beating this thing IF we all work together.
We have to cut down on the flaming and trolling, and be as helpful as possible. We have to PROVE that we don't NEED to have something such as Real ID FORCED on us in order to become a great place and source of information. The sticky about this change has about 20+ pages of people hating this change, and maybe 1 page TOTAL of people liking the change. We all know from experience that what we all PERSONALLY want doesn't ALWAYS come into effect. Most changes that occur that get negative responses from the FORUMERS get pretty good response from the INGAMERS who never visit.

This time, for once, a change is ENTIRELY up to us and how we react to it.

Don't protest the change/cancel your account, at least not yet. You can't just give up when you see change coming.

Cut back/stop the trolling. See a troll? Report him, and continue on the thread without acknowledging/feeding him. Report him until his posts are deleted and his traces are wiped fromt he thread. In the meantime, DON'T respond to them AT ALL>

Don't flame people. If you see someone who's posting the wrong section, kindly point them in the right direction so that they learn from their mistake, don't have 5 people calling them stupid while NONE of those people haven't showed the person where they should have posted. If someone makes a stupid post, just laugh it off. If it was an accident, point it out to them kindly, but continue contributing to the thread.

TL;DR-
Real ID change can be stopped if we stop it by acting civilized/ not trolling or flaming. Let's get er done.

EDIT: Im hoping this doesn't get closed because it brings up legitimate new ideas and simply refers back to the sticky.
