GM's wont restore my gear!

I recently got my account back after it was compromised. I took a break from WOW back in October of 2009 when I got into Pharmacy school. Now that I have classes under control I decided to get back on. I found out after talking to a very helpful blizzard agent on the phone that my account was compromised and then banned for unusual activity. Well I got my account back and my 70 rogue is naked other than pvp gear that cannot be sold. He also only has 36 copper and all my bags and bank bags and items are gone. I was decently geared, nothing great. I still have my pvp stuff but my Kara gear, Darkmoon Crusade car, dragonspine trophy, gold, all my mats for enchanting and skinning are all gone. My dk is also missing gold and mats from blacksmithing/mining as well as my bank bags. So I open a ticket last monday and they send it to a specialist. I just got an email last night saying my account is unharmed and nothing at all is missing. I understand I took a pretty long break, but I don't understand how they can say nothing is missing. If you just look at my rogue on armory, who would take a break from a game and leave his main character in that condition? I have 3-4 pieces of armor left...all pvp stuff. My talents have been reset as well, and most importantly all my gold and items are gone. I sent an email back telling them that this is unacceptable because they know for a fact that the account was stolen and banned while under someone elses control. What should I do, My DK still has all the gear he had and I recently his 80 with him but I still want all my gear/items/gold that I worked so hard to get on my Rogue back. What should I do, if they can't go back far enough to see the items go missing they should take my word for it. It's not like i'm asking for a top of epic items back. The gear I had wasn't even close to being as great as the WOTLK gear but still, how am I suppose to level when I'm naked and have 636 attack power. I know numerous guild mates I had on the original server I was on that can vouch for me but I just don't know what plan of action to take. Any advice? Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry, Kabal, but there is a significant difference between the words can't and won't. It isn't that we won't restore whatever items/gold you lost, it is that the compromise took place beyond our ability to verify what happened. If this was reported soon after it happened we likely would have been able to verify what was lost and provide very close to a 100% restoration. Unfortunately because this took place October of last year we are simply unable to verify what items/gold you had at the time.

We would very much like to help but please understand that even in cases of a compromise no restoration is guaranteed, we do what we can but we must be able to verify what was lost within our logs.

It may take a little work, Kabal, but you can use the equipment you have on your 80 to run instances and do quests in order to upgrade and then help supply your other characters. Honestly your other characters are 70 and below and the gear upgrades very quickly from that point.

On top of everything I just wrote, I just noticed that my rogue is in a guild that I never joined. After clicking the name to go to the guilds armory, I AM THE ONLY MEMBER. Hmmm...mister GM, do you still think my stuff wasn't sold for gold/traded?

We obviously believe the account was compromised, Kabal, otherwise the closure of the account would not have been reversed and you would not be in possession of it but as I explained we must be able to verify the loss before we can provide restoration. That is simply not possible.

I am sorry for the frustration this has caused and hope that you are able to replace what was lost.

Good luck.

The email I received was 100% in either April or May of 2010. If that narrows it down can you please look into the logs then and see if you find anything.

It has been looked into, Kabal, I even looked myself and I'm afraid that the compromise took place outside of our ability to verify it. I'm sorry.

Is there anything at all you can do if your investigation doesn't turn anything up. Anything at all?

Not usually. If we are unable to verify what happened we are usually unable to provide restoration of any kind. If you had items that were from quests you may have completed though it may be possible to provide those in an effort to help you get back on your feet. I would recommend e-mailing [email protected] and list any of those items you would like us to look into.
