Authenticator removal, I did not put it there

My account has been frozen since march due to financial issues. I was contacted by a friend last night asking me when I started playing again and I have not. So I went to check my Manage Account and when I went to log in there is an authenticator on it. I went to armory and checked my character and it is showing activity as of June 23, 2010 and I froze the account in March. I have changed the password on the account but need your assistance to remove the authenticator. I am hoping to return to game soon and will only do so with my original characters.

thank you for your time.

I'm very sorry to hear that you're having difficulty accessing your account, Saintmoore. =/ If you are being asked for an authentication code when logging into the game client or Account Management, though, but did not personally associate an Authenticator with your account, I'm afraid your account has likely been compromised. Unfortunately, this is a very common trend: in many cases of compromise, an unauthorized party will associate an Authenticator with the account in order to prevent the registered user from logging in.

While this must be an incredibly frustrating situation for you, please know that Blizzard's In-Game Support and Account Services department will do all that they can to help you recover from your compromise. This includes recouping items, characters, and currency that were lost as a result.

To begin your recovery process, I'd encourage you two to read through the following guide:

It should answer any questions that you might have about what to do to get your stuff back and what steps you can take to secure your account.

Also, quick note! We can assist with the removal of the unauthorized Authenticator through multiple points of contact:

Please note that each of these contacts may not yield an immediate response. We understand that being locked out of your account is frustrating, though, so our representatives will do all that they can to assist you as quickly as possible. :)

As you're waiting for Account Services to respond to your email, I would encourage you to focus on securing your account. Some extra tips and suggestions can be found here:

And, even though you're currently unable to submit a petition, you can still email wowgm@blizzard.com. This is equivalent to submitting a petition, and will help us learn of your account compromise sooner than if you had to wait to log in. :)
