Scared for my family and myself...

Real ID has struck some concern with my wife and I. Since we've heard what Blizzard is doing to the forums, not only am I afraid for myself, but I have 2 kids and a wife that I'm also afraid for.

My main concern is that, my line of work is EXTREMELY confidential. I hold information that some people would KILL to have, and yes, I'm being serious. I'm sure there are other people out there who stand on similar ground as I. If the right person were to find where I live (like I know they can with nothing more than my name and some various FREE websites), then bad things could possibly happen.

Both of my children play WoW and are no longer minors, therefore, they are both registered with their name's as well. If they were to post here with that information then my family and myself could be in danger. If someone were to notice who I am (I use an alias in most public places, I only use my birth-name for transactions, and yes, WoW is a transaction) then they would have the ability to track me down.

This is a PUBLIC forum Blizzard, ANYONE in the entire world that has internet capability can access these forums with nothing more than a click. That means that these forums will be nothing more than a database of people's personal information for anyone to view. Blizzard, Real ID was a GREAT idea, but it should be optional, not forced upon us.

You think this will stop trolls? It won't. This is only giving them more fuel. Now they can come to the forums, post with an alias, get your name, do a little research, and post your personal information all over trade chat. Viewable by anyone on your server. Most trolls are 15 and have fake names attached to their accounts anyway, so why do they care if <insert common name here> looks them up. They will be left with nothing but information that has no affiliation with the person they are looking for.

Not everyone is nice Blizz, bad things will come from this. You say that you have 'other plans' for Real ID and that you will go further? What do you plan? Having Real ID mandatory in game? Were anytime you add someone to your friend's list they have all of your personal information at their disposal? Real ID will be the downfall of Activision/Blizzard.
