There's an element of anonymity that I expect when I play a video game. That's why I have an avatar that looks like a bearcow and is called Maeday. On Vent, I'm Maeday. In my guild, I'm Maeday. When I talk to anyone from WoW who I don't personally know in real life, I'm Maeday. I like my anonymity and it should be my choice when to divulge more information about myself to others, not Blizzards.

I work in a hospital, where if I even accidentally released personally identifiable information with regards to a patient in my care, I would be fired, and could face fines and jail time (HIPAA). I take it seriously at work because people have the right to privacy of their personal life and information. I take it seriously with my bank, credit cards, cell phone company, and countless others. You better bet I feel the same way when it comes to my video game.

This is a ridiculous, poorly thought-out policy decision. I understand the intent, but the solution is wrong on far too many levels to be acceptable. Please reconsider it.
