Complaint regarding permanent ban

I was recently permanently banned after my second ever offense.

It has been 5 days now and haven't received an email regarding this. However, this isn't the complaint.

I have NEVER broken any rules besides offensive language. This is outrageous, and I am infuriated.
I'm half convinced this is an error, because of the sheer bizarreness of past occurrences. I wish to speak to a Blizzard official at once, before I lose my mind.

I am 15.

So which is it, blizz? Temporary ban or permanent?

That I couldn't tell you. The only thing I have to go on is the account you are posting on, which isn't associated with an account that has been suspended or closed. Add to that, you seem to have purposefully created this trial to post, do you really believe it appropriate to use such a name when you are seeking assistance?

If you log into the Rogue that is also on this account it may update your posting account and allow you to select a more appropriate character. :)

If you provide me the name and realm of a character on the account you are referring to I will take a look and provide what advice I can.

For some reason when I try to choose my character it won't let me choose my rogue... but that's another story.

Name: Dëstruction
Realm: Echo Isles
ë = alt 0235

Ah, I see what happened. It seems that you were recently using public channels with similar cleverly named characters and the people on your realm indicated that you were making a bit of a nuisance of yourself. Honestly given the lines that I see here I can say that it may be extremely lucky that you were hit for spamming instead of for the content of your commentary. It may not have resulted in the closure of the account but it would certainly have launched you up the penalty volcano fast enough that your hair would have been singed.

Given the activity on the account it was decided that we would make certain that the registered user was the one in control of it so it was locked. Account Recovery Instructions were sent, twice now to the registered address for the account.

Some providers have an issue with our e-mails so may block them. Check your spam filter and junk folder to see if it was redirected.

I can resend the e-mail if you wish but the important bit is the following link. You'll need to follow the instructions found at the link below.

I hope that helps.

I'm not able to provide any details regarding the actions that were taken, Twinbizzle, but I can confirm that his e-mail has been received and is currently awaiting processing.

An investigation will be done to verify the penalties that were applied and check to see if the account was either compromised or simply caught up in what was deemed suspicious behavior.

I don't have an estimate on how long it may take for this to be completed, Twinbizzle, but my best guess is that he should be contacted in around 24 hours.

Vrak, quick question on this subject, if I can - and I do understand if you cannot/willnot answer for whatever reason. When a situation such as this is being reported, and during your investigation you find that the other players did just "report as spam" when it appears there was clear use of less than appropriate language being used, are the Blue's (either in-game or those here responding to questions) able to "self-report" the offending player as well? Just curious is all.

It depends on the situation. For those of us who moderate this forum we are generally confined to here. Even though we look into a number of issues in order to provide what advice we are able to, we do not actively address harassment issues such as the use of inappropriate language or subject matter in game. Those reports are handled by our In-Game Support staff responding to the report.

The Report Spam feature was implemented to handle a great deal of the gold/powerleveling advertisements as well as player spam. For it to effectively deal with these situations it can really only be used for reporting that activity. Use of inappropriate language or subject matter reported via that tools may not be addressed to the full extent of our policies as it may only be recognized as spam under those conditions.

What is normally looked for is if what is reported falls under the criteria for spam. Many of the reports generated from players who accidentally use the option and others who use it only to ignore someone on a temporary basis are weeded out.

This is why we encourage players who witness chat that falls outside of the spam category to report it via an in-game petition. :)

Does that answer the question, Mirantha?
