A quick google search reveals this problem has been around for over 2 years and there is no solution which works available anywhere on this site.

Trying to upgrade my account to Wrath of the Litch King. Enter the credit c ard info on the account upgrade page, and get Error 202.

Searching the forums reveals such inspiring tips as trying a different web browser (didn't work) clearning my cache (doesn't do anything) and calling the 1800 number.

Calling t he 1800 is absolutely useless. You get a recorded message saying "Sorry we are experiencing a lot of calls, so many in fact that we can't even put you in a wait queue! even if you want to wait 45 minutes to an hour or whatever to resolve this problem, we aren't even giving you that option. We are now hanging up! Please try the useless website."

This problem is frustrating. Absolutely unacceptable that you guys can't get your act together after 2 years and resolve this problem with people's credit cards failing on your website.

"Error 202" usually indicates that the provided payment method is incompatible in some way with the selected online purchasing system. This doesn't mean that the payment method is invalid or in poor standing. Rather, it's just a sign that something isn't syncing up with the online transaction.

In these situations, your first step should be to ensure that the account's billing information is up to date. Then, if everything looks solid, you can contact our Billing & Account Services department by phone. It can be a bit challenging to get through right now, but our representatives will be happy to work with you and assist with your transaction in any way possible once you do so.

This is just a cookie cutter response that u guys cut and paste into every thread regarding this issue that is absolutely zero help and is supposed to make your customers just give up in frustration and go away.

Actually, it contains all the information you need to resolve the issue. There are two ways to resolve this: ensure that your billing information is accurate on the card itself, and that your battle.net account is appropriately updated. If that doesn't work, then you'll need to contact our Account Services staff directly for further assistance.

Regrettably, due to the nature of this issue, and because it deals with methods of payment, it is not the kind of situation we're able to provide direct assistance with via the forums, nor is the forum a means to by-pass the telephone queues.

Q u o t e:
1) THE BILLING PHONE NUMBER DOES NOT WORK.

While it can be a challenge to get through (there are many other players ahead of you who also desire assistance), I assure you that it does work. Unfortunately, the hold queue is full, so it may take some patience and a ready finger on the redial button to get through.

Q u o t e:
2) There IS NO ADDRESS on the form. I am NOT on a phishing site. I am navigating to the Upgrade Account page from the blizzard main page. You folks who are saying there should be an address are all either clueless, or they have changed the form since you last used it.

I think that there's a misunderstanding at work. What the other posters mean is that you may want to make sure that your Battle.net address is up to date. You can confirm that information by logging into http://us.battle.net/ and selecting the Change Contact Info link in the My Profile section.
