Blizzard Unable to Restore Lost Items

So 6 days ago, I started playing WoW again after not playing for about half a year. I knew someone had hacked into my account sometime during this half year because I received emails from Blizzard stating this. Naturally, I expected some items to be missing. So when I log in and find that my character is completely naked, my bank empty, and bags empty, I thought "no big deal, I'll just send an in-game ticket and request an item restoration. So today, I get an email stating that Blizzard is "unable to provide the restoration" because they were "unable to verify the loss". I'm wondering now whether I should continue petitioning a GM for help. If anyone else has been in this situation, could I get some tips?

So because account administration most likely deleted the logs for my characters long ago, there's absolutely nothing they can do for me? Most of my gear was obtained through raids, dungeons, and quests, therefore it would be highly difficult / impossible to get these items back on my own.

Account Administration didn't delete logs for your character, Darklegolas. Everything that happens in the game is tracked, what your character does, and what items your character has is tracked. The amount of information involved in this though is simply staggering so the majority of the data can not be saved for very long. This information regularly cycles out as part of the normal process.

Raid and dungeon items can be obtained again, if you run those raids and dungeons and the items drop and you win them. Quest rewards may be able to be replaced in some circumstances, I'd recommend submitting a petition inquiring about specific quest rewards. Be certain to include the name of the item and if you can recall the name of the quest you obtained it from.

I am sorry that we were unable to help you, Darklegolas. We do try to provide what restorations we can anything that we restore must be able to be verified.

Thanks everyone for clearly this up.

If I were to send in a petition and gave the names of the quest items, they could be restored? How is this possible when the logs have been deleted?

It is possible because we can still verify that you have completed the quests. We may not always be able to grant such a request but it is in the realm of possibilities so it never hurts to ask. :)

Well on a positive note, I just got some quest rewards back from a GM!! I didn't expect such a swift response.

Neither did I.

Glad to hear we were able to help to some degree, Darklegolas, good luck to you.
