As the subject says. I tried to log on my battle.net account and it kept asking me for the authenticator key which I have never had or activated before. I tried to log on to cancel but I did not manage to, I however managed to change my password. Help would be appreciated.

See if you can access this now, Sheathedblad.

Looks like the damages are done and they are long gone - but it is vital to find out how they got your password and ID or they WILL be back - that's almost assured.

This sticky may be useful.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.

Q u o t e:
Thanks a lot Orlyia, as for the precautions, I can assure that I am more than an average computer user. I never give my passwords to anyone, never had spywares, adwares or any other similar things on my computer for as long as I can remember, never logged from any computer other than mine (no cyber cafes or friends computers). Therefore no security breach has been done on my side. In addition to that, there seems to be simultaneous cases similar to mine (they happened in a very short time span). So I expect it to be something to do with Blizzard system. I know it might sound very outrageous but it is the most likely case, and I know that people will flame me for it but that is my input.

Thanks again for the help, I managed to log onto my account finally.

It's NOT us, Sheathedblad.

Whether intentionally, or much more likely - unintentionally, your information got into their hands - it did.

Malware, phish, logging in accidentally to a fake site - downloading a fake addon that is really a keylogger, and those are just a few of the ways this can happen.
