I recently updated my iPod touch which wiped the thing completely, including the authenticator, I re-instlaled the authenticator now when I try to log in it says the invald password thing (even though I know it is about the authenticator)

How can I solve this?

You'll need to contact Billing to have this removed so you can add your new one. When the serial number changes you've in essence got a 'new' authenticator.

Q u o t e:
is calling them a must? can I just do it all by email, if so what information do I include?

Calling will be far faster. If you have the old serial number, it's not terribly difficult.

The phone queues can be challenging, but immediately retrying if you get the busy message seems to work to get into the queue for most folks.
