Get rid of battle net

I'd like to start this post off with the big detail that for about 3-4 years, i have been playing wow. Out of all that time, i had never been hacked or had account issues. Within this last week, i was repeatedly kicked offline, i figured it was my net but it wasnt. I went to battlenet and changed my passwords, same with my email and what not, i ran a full system security scan and had no keyloggers or bugs.

Now, here i am with a hacked account, missing all my gear, weapons, money, and angry. When blizzard decided it was a good idea to be craming Battlenet down our throats, aka that email they sent out to make it official, you must register a battlenet account or not be able to play. ok i hated this idea to begin with, now these authenticators, are a joke.

My account was stolen from me because someone had attached an authenticator to my account, i recieved no emails, no notifcation, or any form of information that i had done such a thing. Now here i sit, missing most of my 264 gear, reading a ingame email with a pet for "authenticating an authenticator". o wow a free pet vs the lost of 9lvl80 geared toons. Now, to get all my gear back, i see may be impossible, most of my toons had 3 sets of gear ea, most with duel spec.

Funny, how one had no problems or issues before, then battle net pops up and theres even more account hyjacks then there ever were. The fact that when i go to the battle net site to see it say in fine print , "battle net provides secuirity and safety" all over the place, here i am using this crappy service with my account jacked and destroyed.

Whats even worse is that i know a few people, who had authenticators, and yet they were still hacked. This service is unsafe and unrealiable, if the people hacking accounts like this really wanted to, im sure they could have access to credit card info, personal information like your home address and god knows what else.

Im rather bitter right now, but even so, this is very true. Battle net is bad, and being forced to use this service is even worse. This seems to be more of a scam produced by blizzard to make more money...."Buy our authenticatior and never worry about being hacked again!" - load of bull if you ask me, i may be the fool for not getting a authenticator in the first place but after seeing my friends hacked when they themselves had one, made me say no to the authenticator.

Enjoy the word wall, for now i must wait for my account to be restored and cleared, hopefully it will be done correctly and flawlessly.

Q u o t e:
I got hacked because someone attached my account to their authenticator, Which i hope they dont have access to my credit card information, because then im going to be a very angry angry person lol.

Sorry, Elskor - but this is simply incorrect.

You got comrpromised because somehow someone came by your password and ID. That is also what allowed them to add an authenticator to your account.

Finding the source of that compromise is vital to this not recurring.

No one can see your credit card information - not even yourself if you look.

This has been reported, so that part has been started. The authenticator was actually removed by the compromiser themselves - there is not currently one on the account, although it may be something you want to consider for yourself.

At the moment, finding the source of this needs to be the priority - everything else is in process.

This sticky may prove useful.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.
