Edit: The patch was actually on wednesday 6-16-10, I posted after midnight (the next day) and put the wrong date.

Edit2: Whatever happened last night in our raid doesnt appear to be happening now, and hopefully doesnt happen again.

I ran a 25 man ICC run tonight as ret pally after the patch and I noticed that I was getting white misses with 293 hit. I almost filled my drawers when I saw this because this should NOT be possible. Before the patch, hit rating cap for melee 2h was 8%, 263 hit. Now the melee 2h hit cap is something very odd and REALLY needs to be addressed. I reset my recount before we tried professor putricide just to take a look at that fight and ended up with 7% misses just on melee alone. The patch has KILLED melee dps. Also to note that many have had disconnect and internet problems due to the patch as well.

Another way to prove that melee dps is currently broken is that I also noticed during that 25 man ICC, the range were at the top of the DPS charts for EVERY SINGLE BOSS FIGHT, including bosses that normally melee are at the top (saurfang). Melee dps is clearly broken and needs to be fixed asap.

Also, I just had a tank I went with tell me that he had a lot more missed taunts than usual. Just more proof.

If I could have one wish, it would be to UNDO the patch that was just done until the issues found have been fixed.

Please?

I cant deny that I may have stepped in a gas during professor, however, that doesnt end the fact that other people I ran with were having issues with misses, including our tanks missing more taunts.

Also, my guild's melee dps has pretty much constantly held top dps against saurfang since ICC came out, and I would say our highest melee dps for that fight last night was around 8th on the dps chart. I also noticed saurfang took a lot more effort than usual (not saying hes hard, but the fight just seemed to take longer than usual). I do remember seeing white misses on saurfang and red flags were starting to go off in my head. I did not further investigate the mysterious misses until professor and thats the only reason I posted the missed percentage vs professor because I didnt look at the stats from different bosses. Ill do more investigation soon though.

To people who think im a troll, seriously I rarely post on these forums as I would rather just play the game instead. In fact now that I look at the forums this should almost go in the bugs forums instead.

go facepalm at yourself.

Rather than base this on a single run, perhaps alert your guild members and try another run through Icecrown Citadel with an eye toward your overall accuracy, as well as buffs and debuffs. Perhaps try tracking accuracy percentages on a fight per fight basis? Then, if you're still seeing an issue, you can create a Bug Report forum post including your numbers, and those of your fellow guild members. I am unaware of any changes which would prompt alterations to melee hit percentages, but if there appears to be a compelling need to investigate then we'll be happy to do so.

It's best to disregard melee vs. ranged performance on damage meters however, since there are many factors which can confound that kind of data, which makes it substantially less valuable.

I just did 350 melee swings on the training dummy and zero misses....

Next time something odd like that happens and I notice it, im saving logs and screenshots so people dont think im crazy, and then testing my theory on the dummy and taking screenshots there too. -_- Hopefully I can provide better proof of something odd going on in the future. I saw some misses vs saurfang and should have taken screenies then and there. Bah.

Whatever happened last night in our raid doesnt appear to be happening now, and hopefully doesnt happen again.

Commence mocking....

now.

Hey, what if there had been an issue though? It's quite alright to raise questions - it's just usually a good idea to do some testing first, that way you don't get unfairly lumped in with chicken little.

Thanks for taking the time to write up a post, and moreso for following up!
