What are gms for ?

can i ask what a gm is for ? simple question but complex answer i am sure ,
the reason i ask this question is that there never seems to be a gm to stop the gold sellers in stormwind doing there human mage message (a group of mages all lay down to form words for website for gold buying ) and that message stays there most of the day even though a ticket is opened ...

also when an account is being hacked the gm isnt needed as you do this through customer support .
game glitches well pointless opening a ticket for that as response time can be 24 hours to four or five days .

pvp well nothing happens there as gms refer you to the pvp forums .

so what is the point of a gm , they dont give game hints , they dont solve problems happening at that point of time , so why what do they do ingame besides get back to you a week later saying sorry we missed you , fill out this servey please .

so could someone tell me what they do , i would really like to know

Did you submit a petition from an alternate account, Estrallight? I only see two petitions open on your account.

One seems to be a report about multi-boxing, which is not generally considered a violation of our Terms of Use.

The other is BG /afk report. Though I appreciate your point that if you use the afk report feature that doesn't prevent them from joining another match after their debuff expires but you may be missing the whole picture. The system that was implemented by our Developers helps keep track of such reports and looks for overall patterns. You may not see immediate results from your use of the system, outside of possibility removing the character from your current match, but additional action can be taken based on the collected information including harsher penalties as well as removal of honor and gear.

If you believe the person is using a third party botting program to remain active feel free to report it as such and it will be looked into.

You can report a compromise by either method. Via an in-game petition, wowgm@blizzard.com or webform. All of which is handled by the Game Master staff, Estrallight. Game Master = Customer Support.

Well, we would refer you to our PvP policies in place that designate that we do not interfere with PvP. When you roll on PvP realms you accept that certain activities may take place, such as Player vs. Player combat.

Which are taken care of in due course. The use of such third party programs comes with a fairly harsh penalty, Estrallight, so we must make absolutely certain that we verify everything before we take action. You are able to make snap decisions based on what you believe you have witnessed but we must be able to verify that the proper course of action was taken weeks, months and even years later. To do that we must be able to verify, within our tools, the a botting or other type of program was used.

You have no idea how many whispers are actually prevented, Estrallight, and the amount of spam and other methods of contact are stopped before they start. You only notice the ones that you see. There are a number of preventative measures in place as well as continual changes made all the time. We are not always able to prevent a character from speaking though, especially on an account that is not a trial. For those times the report spam feature is in place to quickly report and address such issues.

Right, at which point it is important to report the offending player. We will look into the report and take what actions are appropriate.

It can, Zaiko. One of the reasons that may be, is because we help with a great variety of issues. Our Developers have also implemented several changes to the game to allow players to correct their own mistakes which is meant to help reduce response times. Such as the ability to refund alternate current purchases within 2 hours of played time after the purchase. Because of this mechanic we no longer provide such exchanges.

We are not happy with the current queue times but we are working to reduce response times as best as we can.
