Real ID Question

I have a question about the upcoming Real ID system, and... to be honest, I wasn't entirely certain where to post it, so it landed here. Hopefully the kind blues in the CS forum will be able to feed me an answer or two? ^^

The aspect of the system that appeals to me most is the cross-faction, cross-server communication. Currently I have several real life friends who play Alliance on Anvilmar, and several who play Horde on Emerald Dream.

I understand that when the Real ID system is implemented, I'll be able to send whispers to any of my friends on the Real ID friends list. What I'm curious about is if we will be able to have a Real ID group chat -- currently, on Anvilmar, my friends and I who play there have a channel we use communally as we are in different guilds. The same with my friends on Emerald Dream.

So, my question: using the Real ID system, assuming we're all Real ID friends with one another, could the Hordies from Emerald Dream and the Allies from Anvilmar hang out in one Real ID "channel" and chat freely with one another like we could as if we all played on the same server and faction and had created a private chat channel? And if so, can that channel be 'auto-joined' on connection the same way a regular private chat channel can? I'm really hoping so!

Thank you in advance for any help or assistance you can offer!

I am unaware of any plans to allow Real ID "channels," Marcoma. When it is implemented, it is likely that you will only be able to engage in one-on-one conversations with your Real ID friends. If you'd like to see us create a group chat or Real ID channel system, I encourage you to share your feedback on the Suggestions Forum. :)
