What to do while waiting

So I recently had my account compromised and now have it at least back in my control. Since all of my characters had gold/items removed I am wondering if I should even play them while I am waiting for my restoration. If I play them and then have everything restored have I wasted my time? Or should I just start a new character while I am waiting? Thanks in advance.

Indeed, as long as none were transferred, they are fine to access. Transferred characters are best to not touch - anything done will be undone when the transfer is.
