Ok, so my friend is interested in playing World of Warcraft and he has a battle.net account. But I want the benefits that come with the recruit a friend. can i still invite him and it goes through his battle.net account or dose he have to make a new one? he'd like to keep all the stuff together because he has Warcraft 3 on his current battle.net.

Just so as long as your friend starts a brand new World of Warcraft account (this can be done on his current Battle.net account if he would like) then you two should be able to take full advantage of the Recruit-a-Friend program. If you are planning on inviting him, though, make sure that the account that sent the invitation logs out before the other player accepts it-lest you end up creating the World of Warcraft account on the veteran account holder’s Battle.net account.

Wait.... what?

Sorry for the confusion, that is only if the invitation is sent from the same computer that it is going to be accepting it, and directed at the account management page, not in-game.
