One last loot rolling question...

If I'm in a LFD group and I happen to get people from my server:

Is there any reason for which a player should not, say, roll Need on something they don't otherwise want, and offer to sell it to someone for whom it is an upgrade? (I mean "sell" in game -- gold, not real-world money.)

I know people complain about this being done in raids sometimes, but raids often have specific agreed loot rules, but LFD has only the rule "if the need button lights up, you are welcome to roll need".

So if someone rolls on something that another player obviously wants/"needs", and wins, can they offer to sell it to that player? It seems like that's completely consistent with the stated rules at this time, yes?

For that matter, can I roll on something for the sole purpose of handing it to another player? Say, if I'm in reg ToC, and I'm healing, can I roll on The Black Heart just so I can give it to the tank?

There aren't currently any rules against this kind of rolling within the Need Before Greed system. If you are eligible to roll, then you are eligible to roll. In the Need Before Greed rolling system, once you've won an item and it enters your inventory, you own it and can do what you wish with it.

Of course, a player who makes a habit of rolling in such a way that offends other players will very likely end up being /ignored by those they group with, which could impact their use of the system in the future.
