Auction Sold?

I don't normally pay much attention when I'm entering in prices for the auctions I put up, and sometimes I end up with crazy high prices for stacks of things because I entered in a price per unit instead of stack. Usually these end up being canceled once I realize what I did, or they end up being returned to me.

As I logged on tonight I received in-game mail from the auction house, telling my my auction of saronite ore had sold. Glee! Only I got 689g from it, which actually bothered me. I ran back to Stormwind and checked the AH and there were a bunch more auctions at 40g/stack (normal price), so I contacted the person who bought them, and they told me that they hadn't bought any saronite (and sounded increasingly annoyed as I kept questioning him.)

I don't mind having this gold, and I was going to give him a lot back (until he got an attitude), but I still don't want it if it was done in an error on his part (as it was a large sum). I have a ticket open regarding the issue, should I just leave it open or is it possible for the GMs here on the forums to pop in and check that real quick?

Edit: Just realized I posted under the wrong forum avatar. The paladin that this happened on is Sikketh on Thunderlord.

I too would like to applaud you for your honesty, Unika.

I see straight-up, this is just as you say and you did indeed try to contact the correct individual.

I'd say your conscience is clear, you tried your very best - and in fact, I'd say went above and beyond on your part.
