I just recieved an email from "[email protected]" stating the following:

____________________________

Subject: World of Warcraft Account Password Recovery

Message: A request for a new password for this World of Warcraft Account has been received. Please follow this link to choose your new password:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/loginsupport/confirmPassword.html?cid=wlrbmkfypysfuxf

Be sure to use a brand new password and not one you have previously used.

Please note that this link is valid for a single use and will expire after 72 hours if not used. If this link does not work, please resubmit your request for a new password.

For the continued security of the account, we recommend that you take the following steps prior to logging in to your account:

- Scan the computer system you are using to remove all viruses, Trojan files, and key loggers.

- Log in to your Account Management page at https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account

- Verify that your contact information is accurate and update it if necessary.

- If you would like to add additional security to your account, you can visit this link (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/24660) to find out more information about the Blizzard Authenticator.

- Maintain safe Internet practices and safeguard all World of Warcraft account information for the most secure gaming experience.

Thank you for contacting Blizzard Entertainment!

All of the links in the email look to be valid (yes, even the hyperlinks in the email appear to direct to "worldofwarcraft.com" & "blizzard.com" domains), and the email itself appears to come from a blizzard.com email, so although I thought it was a phishing email to begin with, I wanted to bring it to your attention.

Most importantly, and I probably should have mentioned this already, but I did not request a new password from Blizzard, nor do I know the origin or reason behind this email.

Please let me know if this is something to be concerned with. I've already changed my password. Should I have any further reason for concern?

Sorry for my late response, Deadweight. It is possible that someone mistyped their own account information which is why you received the e-mail.

Did you check to make sure the links went where they said they went? Usually hovering over the link will tell you where it actually goes.

You may want to check your system just in case. It's never a bad thing to be more secure. :)
