What the hell is Blizzard going to do about all the recent hacks of accounts. I'm guild master of Phantom X on Ravencrest and in the past 2 weeks 3 accounts of guildies have been hack and our guild bank cleaned out. You know I got to say I personally have a authenticator but seriously why doesn't blizzard step in and change the way people log in. Like a secret question or something to that effect. I'm sick of the hacks. It's a bunch of bull that I have to pay $15 a month just so my guild's bank can be cleaned out by hackers!

You know that when you have an authenticator, you get a corehound pup - right?

That feature was included specifically so folks in a position like yourself could request confirmation of the presence of one and decide based on that whether or not they would allow guild bank access among other things.

Anything outside of the authenticator I'm afraid would just be added to phish attempts and the information obtained.

I can appreciate how frustrating this is, but now is a golden opportunity to go over basic security and encourage your guild mates to protect their accounts further with an authenticator.

To get around an authenticator takes a very specialized type of malware on your system.

It also takes VERY rapid response. I don't foresee it ever being a viable method that will keep them in business and basic security is still essential with or without an authenticator.

If you have the password and ID of an account you effectively have control of it, which is why it's so very important to never share that information.

They can add an authenticator because the account is compromised the second that information lands in any one else's hands - whether of not they've actually accessed the account.
