Kalu'ak fishing derby

So we just had our fishing derby, Elder Clear Water announces that the derby has started, I throw my first line out, and before the bobber bobs, Elder Clear Water announces the winner. Literally about 5-10 seconds after the derby began. I don't see how this is possible using valid in-game mechanics.

I won't post the name of the character who won, but the character didn't show up on alliance side, i created a horde toon to check, not on horde side. I just created a toon with the characters name, so it has already been deleted.

And no, this wasn't someone faking a chat log, I've been around a while. I also hearthed right after the winner announcement and Elder Clearwater was giving the Better Luck Next Time quest.
