Accidently deleted character

Last night I went to delete some unused level 1 characters from my account when, mistakenly, I deleted my lvl80 alt Warlock; Ithalia of Dreadmaul.

is it possible to have her restored posting here, or is submitting an in-game ticket the only way for this?

The character was not on this WoW account, but another one linked to the same Battle.Net account.

Submitting a petition requesting this is indeed the proper course.

Unless you also stripped the character and item restorations need done, this usually isn't a terribly difficult process. It may take awhile for your petition to be answered, but you don't have to be online. Do make sure to be specific as to the name of the character in question.
