If your friend buys gold, what do you do?

I have a casual friend that i've known in the game for 4 maybe 5 years now.

I suspect that he might be a gold buyer. Obviously, I do not want to get my friend in trouble or banned. But I obviously do not also want to be banned myself.

He is a nice guy and sometimes, he gives me stuff. Flasks, gear for my alts, ore to prospect for gems that I can just stockpile. I can't be certain if this stuff is honorably farmed or if he just purchases it to give to me.

Maybe he feels bad because I can raid and as such, I help him out from time to time because I have better gear and he can't repay me any other way.

I don't know what to do.

You could certainly report it, and I'd be VERY careful accepting anything you think may have be obtained in that fashion - it could be tracked to you with repercussions.

You could also send him to this webpage and encourage him NOT to engage in behaviors that ultimately produce account compromises.
