Simply put, Hiney, yes!
There are a few ways to know that it is a Game Master interacting with you. First off, when the GM contacts you, you should see a message similar to the following up in the right hand side of your screen-near the mini map: (http://us.blizzard.com/support/image.html?locale=en_US&id=422).
At the point you can tell whether or not the person contacting you really is a GM by the Blizz graphic preceding their name, exactly as shown here: (http://us.blizzard.com/support/image.html?locale=en_US&id=81).
