Archaeology - Lore Items

Can we expect Lore Items to have some additional functions and usage aside from giving us lore-nuts a new window into the world's history and nature? What I mean to ask is... it would be disappointed to find some awesome stuff, and then end up just selling it at a vendor because it just ends up taking up room in my inventory.

If what we found was copied into a journal we could read at any time, that would be awesome! But otherwise, would it be possible for these items to offer benefits to players? For example, could we expect a scroll-like effect? Using an item by unlocking it's powers (requirement based on archaeology skill) would increase a player's miscellaneous stat for a 30-60 minute duration?

Ability to find magical/rare items
Increase gold from monsters
Increase experience gain from slaying of monsters
Increase reputation gain from quest completion

Things like that. Or could we even end up with some of these items granting such bonuses passively like the Charms from Diablo 2 did?

As an example, we find an idol of Hydraxxis. Could it offer us a +25 Frost Resist while it is in our inventory? Or a Pandaren Stein, which makes it more difficult for a player to get drunk, but they remain drunk longer, or something?

Many of the archaeology items are stored in your journal, not your bags, so inventory space shouldn't be a big problem. While many of the artifacts are only there for rewards, the rare finds run the gamut from unique toys to usable weapons to special pets.
