Free Core Hound?

Is Blizzard giving out the core hound pet after one reports an account compromise? As I mentioned in another thread my account had been hacked about a week ago, etc, etc.

After making sure the basics were secure, I logged in just to hopefully see if anything was updated(probably should check the email first but either way), and I find a corehound pup in the mail on the compromised characters.

Now, I do have an Authenticator purchased-but it hasn't arrived yet. So did I miss something or was this an error?

That's really strange. Because I got back on my account after doing the typical password recovery method via Battlenet and reset it that way, then logged into the compromised account-which to my horror-found it stripped mined of all my efforts, sent in a ticket and awaited blue response.

So, technically I should have been locked out before that step right? When the hacker hi-jacked my account? But I wasn't prompted for an Authenticator.

Not that I'm complaining since it means that was less of a hassle to go through to getting my account back and trying to get it secure(still waiting on stuff however). But the idea that I could have been faced with a lot more headache doesn't give me entirely peace of mind.

Sometimes they remove it themselves.

I suspect it's not out of the goodness of their little black hearts, but it does happen. The corehound pup is proof they had attached one at least temporarily.
