Character Faction Change Issues

As a reminder: Please only post the requested information in this thread if you are unable to complete a Character Faction Change due to the process becoming stuck at "Updating Faction" and (in some cases) are seeing a duplicate, naked character on the same realm.

If you are experiencing an issue with a different paid character service—like a Character Transfer, for example—please contact Account Services (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/contactbilling). If you are experiencing an issue with a Character Faction Change, but are instead receiving the message "You cannot log in until the character update process you recently initiated is complete," please refer to your account's registered email address, as further instructions to have the character unlocked will be provided there.

Greetings, all—

We are currently investigating an issue that is preventing a select number of Faction Changes from completing. While this issue will not prohibit a character from being customized at the character select screen, it will cause the process to hang at "Updating Faction" and, in many cases, create a duplicate unarmored character on the same realm.

While we do not have an estimate for when this issue will be resolved, we will provide updates in this thread as they become available. Additionally, we ask that if you are affected by this issue to please reply to this thread with the following information:

    Character name:
    Current realm:
    Source realm (if different from current realm):
    Date and approximate time that your Faction Change was initiated:


Please use the above format, as it will help us better collect and organize your information. Good morning, all. :)

I know that many of those who have posted in this thread have since been able to complete their Faction Change. If you are still experiencing this issue at this time, however, and have already posted in this thread, can you please let me know?

I'm afraid there has been some confusion, Tempestad. This thread is only meant to gather information so these delays can be looked into and pass along what updates we can when we get them. Thus far all Faction Changes are appearing to go through, in some cases there seems to be a delay of a few hours to a couple days.

I am sorry for what inconvenience this delay has caused, Tempestad. Your Faction Change should hopefully finish processing soon.

The issues are unrelated, Dunhurtmi. This thread was regarding an ongoing issue that has since been resolved. Please contact our Billing and Account Services department as instructed from your original post. They should be able to help get this matter resolved.
