I love it when WoW blames us for account hack

I run complete upto date spyware, malware, and anti-virus software. I have an encrypted network and a firewall and I don't visit off the wall websites or gold selling etc. Yet somehow I talk to a CSR and his attitude was it was my fault and he said you already contacted a gm why you calling us ? I did complete scans of my CPU and nothing is there yet. I was the GM of a thriving raid guild and now that is ruined months of work out the door. The hackers deleted my toon, raided the vault, and disbanded the guild so I guess the message is if you don't want your account hacked don't be a gm of a major raid guld because they will target you. I believe the hacking occurred from your servers BLIZZARD not my CPU and now I can't play for 15 days ? all because of your piss poor security. Think about it if all these accounts are being hacked maybe it's on your end ?? stop blaming your customers you're starting to sound like Brighthouse networks.

How is it my banking and credit card information isn't being hacked yet my Blizzard Account is ? Explanation it's on their end not mine.

I understand that you're frustrated, but this is a good time to take a breath and calm down. Merely because you've run scans and not yet found a keylogger does not mean that the compromise occurred on our end. As of the time of this posting, Blizzard Entertainment has not been compromised. If you are unable to locate the cause, then there is a good chance that your account was compromised due a successful phishing attempt.

On the other hand, if a keylogger was responsible, many popular virus scans will not pick up spyware such a keylogger. It's important to run an effective anti-spyware scan, and to make sure that your World of Warcraft client is open, with gibberish typed into the entry fields. Some keyloggers are sneaky enough to hide until these conditions are fulfilled.

I've played all kinds of MMOs and my accounts were never hacked including some that are currently active why haven't they cleaned me out on those either ? All these replies of player chars must be their damage control team to put me down just like their CSR did.

Not at all. These are merely other players trying to help alert you to the reality of the situation; merely because someone disagrees with you does not mean that they're an employee, and these individuals are not employed by Blizzard Entertainment. Ultimately, if you are to take the appropriate precautions to secure your account now, and to prevent another compromise from occurring in the future, then it is crucial to understand and act on the knowledge that your account security is within your control.

If you haven't already done so, please read and review the articles we've posted in our sticky on the subject, as they can be of great assistance:

Should you have other concerns or questions, then I'll be happy to do my best to address them.
Q u o t e:

As for "rogue employee" that's impossible, as even blizzard employees dont have access to your password.

This is correct, actually. This is also why no Blizzard Entertainment employee will ever ask for your password.

Nvm, I will get banned.

Day 11, no response from this team. I am at wits end and ready to explode.

First, please do not derail another player's thread, especially if you are doing so solely to deride those who are doing their best to share information that we have already provided in the past.

It's actually been a little less than 10 days since you submitted your case for investigation. While I am sorry about the wait, it is currently taking about a week and a half for these investigations to be concluded, and I wish you luck on a response soon.

As always, no restoration is ever guaranteed, but our staff will do everything they can to help you get back on your feet and playing with a full recovery.
