If not this is probably the worst ever decision ever made. How are we supposed to track ninjas and retards who may apply to our guild if there is no way to track their name changes?

Perhaps putting them on an ignore list might help. No matter what though, there will always be someone looking to beat the system. No one system will be foolproof. In short though, this new feature was implemented due to popular request. Many players have been asking for a way to change their name and by implementing this we are able to give them that opportunity.

There are other limitations to the name change as well such as being unable to change the name again for 90 days as it says when you go to the Paid character name page.

By having a small fee, we also make sure that the system isn't being overloaded or abused.

* Please review the Paid Character Name Change FAQ for answers to common questions about this service.

Can people use this feature to get off my ignore list?

No. Characters whose names are changed will remain on your ignore list, but their names will be updated automatically.

What will happen to my Armory Profile?

Once you have completed the Paid Character Name Change process, your Armory profile will be updated to reflect your character's new name.

^ Reference to Armory Tracking Names^

Which spawns the question, if peeps change their name, does the old name become available since it is technically no longer being used? Or does it go to the ever growing list of "previously used names"? I have created toons for the sole purpose of reserving a name, then when I was ready to use that name, I would delete the toon and create another right away.

If peeps change their toon name, and that name has bad karma associated with it, then some hapless nub buys the game with his hard earned lawn mowing money, sits down at his Dad's computer with DSL and installs this game to get "interactive" with the world, only to find out the name he picked, though available, has a reputation and the kid is scarred for life... hehe, Slippery Slope is fun.

As for the Armory, if the name is recycled, then two people can have the same name, one marked as active, one as previously used. After several name cycles, all sorts of peeps would have a history of this name, so which person was the ninja at what time? My head hurts, gonna go lie down now...

It is locked for 90 days and then becomes available after that point in time.

Also, please note. My suggestion earlier about perhaps putting a ninja on your ignore list helping was merely that, a suggestion. It was by no means meant as 'the solution' that people are quoting it as.

I understand that people are going to focus on the negatives of what could happen, but I have a feeling the fears people are expressing are a bit exaggerated and unlikely to come to fruition. We will of course monitor the effects this has on the community and make any additional changes as we feel are warranted.
