Seriously Blizzard?

Bots are going to run this game into the ground. Its not enough that by the time you report spam and then ignore one, theres another one already spamming again. Now there are bots just blatantly hacking in the middle of town. Why is nothing being done? These bots actually floated up into the air and spelled out their website name. I took some screenshots. I don't know about anyone else, but I for certain am not going to be purchasing cataclysm.

These were like the ones that spell out a name by sleeping, they did that actually. But then they floated right up into the air -obviously hacking- and spelled out their website name. Between ENDLESS spam, in game mail advertisements, and hacking without any consequence, I see no reason to continue playing this game.

While I'm certain they appreciate you advertising on their behalf, Psyche, I would ask that you do not.

I'm not certain why you believe nothing is being done, especially when you have yet to submit a petition reporting these activities.

I understand that this form of advertisement is rather annoying and fairly frustrating to have to deal with, Psyche, but we do need to be made aware of this when it happens. Now the ability to float bodies in order to advertise isn't entirely new though how they are doing it is. The previous incarnation of body advertisement was dealt with some time ago and it has taken awhile for them to come up with a new version.

Essentially, Psyche, they use a lot of the mechanics already in place in-game. Our Developers are already working on a way to break their ability to accomplish this type of advertisement but please note, finding a resolution isn't nearly as easy as wanting to. The mechanics in place in game control a great deal and the goal is to disable this ability without negatively impacting the rest of the player base.

After all, it would be nice to get rid of the advertisement but what if you suddenly couldn't move forward? :)

In the meantime, please submit an in-game petition and report any of this advertisement that you see, someone will be along to remove it.

I'm sorry to hear that, Psyche, hopefully I was able to give you some insight into what is happening. Regardless, good luck to you.

This moderator talk for wait until the expansion?

Which as a programmer I entirely understand, I wouldn't want to make the required changes before an expansion, as a player it just makes me sad.

No, that's moderator talk for, "we're aware of the issue and we hope to have it resolved as soon as possible".

I'm not a Developer nor am I a liaison with them so I can not say when such a resolution can be implemented. It may be possible that the resolution necessary to resolve this requires implementation of the expansion, it may be that a resolution will be found this evening and something implemented with maintenance or the next patch.

It depends on the situation and the resolution that can be implemented.

Their new method btw is 3-4 hunters with their pets standing next to each other spelling the ad out. (Basically they name their pets accordingly). They're getting desperate. Hope this helps (if it hasn't been noted already)

Yes, we have seen that one. I've even seen just the pets, so to "hide" the hunter's names. O.o

Please report it when you see it.

Actually, just open a ticket and say:

"Dethecus realm has BODY SPAM in Stormwind Trade District!"

Something simple as that is fine. It clears out pretty quickly. Any other extra information is up to you. :)

That usually works. Just a general area and the words Body Spam or Advertisement works.
Q u o t e:

When spam is so bad you can't even use trade chat, opening tickets doesn't really seem sufficient.

The Report Spam function was specifically implemented to help address spamming issues. This is for advertisement spam as well as just trade channel participants to seem to think they need to advertise their wares or group 4-6 times in order to be heard.

That particular issue is likely not to go away over night, as it was not created over night. It will take a concerted effort of people on your realm to use the Report Spam feature and actually report those individuals.

aww man, on quel dorei there getting wild, i was on most of the day and night yesterday lvling my mages jc skill, and i saw saw so much spam it was crazy

That is actually something that has been developing for some time. It's a "last message visible" battle that has gotten out of hand on some realms. Honestly, a realm decides what type of behavior is acceptable by using the tools available to them. The Report Spam filter is more than just a tool to ignore someone and possibly report them for spam. I can only recommend that you and others who would like people to advertise their group, trade, etc... just once every few minutes to use the option. The more people who do this and remain consistent in their reporting the faster such behavior may be curbed.

On my previous main realm the body part [ability] spam lasted only a couple days, we nipped it as soon as it started.

I'm not saying that it will be so easy, it will likely take time because it has been going on for awhile, but you have the power to make your realm a better place to be.
