I remember when I heard the choice of names I was like "O'rly?". O.o

If we have a position where a pseudonym is required we will be asked to send in a list of 3-5 names. Availability is checked and the appropriate account is created. :)

I can't speak for the others but I selected my name the way I name my characters in every game I play. I find a sound or combination of sounds that I like, and that I feel are appropriate for the race/class. Then I build from there. I will usually hit a random name generator to give me an idea and a combination to try.

I wanted to make sure that I had multiple syllables and that any shortened version of my name would still fit. I had a few variations for my name, only the first selection had the hard K sound though.

I actually didn't know which of my avatar selections would be granted to me until after my name was approved. I think Vrakthris fits the very earthy, friendly and direct Centaur that I am. :)
