Q u o t e:
is there a way to change warlock pet names? through amazing luck, i got a felguard name that refers to bestiality in a foreign language -- a GM told me that the naming policy only applies to english meanings... so am i out of luck, or is there a way to rename it via some other service

First of all - if you have a source of this - this is something we'd want to change across the board.

Now, onto your real issue. I am terribly sorry you don't like your pet's names, Wicked - but please, PLEASE don't take up valuable Game Master time with bogus claims that we do in fact research. Honestly is always the best policy with Game Masters. The answer you receive may be no, but it never hurts to ask. We are here to help our players, but listening to friends 'recommendations' on how to get around policies is seldom a good idea.

By falsifying claims, that could be construed as defrauding a Game Master which has very serious repercussions.

Q u o t e:
"no i used a "it means bestiality in hebrew" excuse"
"i think it might work"

Sorry, no - no it won't.

Is there something else I might be able to help you with today.

Q u o t e:
yes, the senior gm tried to bring up that conversation too
the part you (and he) seemed to be missing is that the word actually DOES mean "sexually assaulting animals" in hebrew. i didn't realize that this was grounds for a pet rename until someone brought it up...

though apparently, it's not grounds for a pet rename because someone told me to petition it

if you'd like me to explain the translation to you, i'd be more than happy to do so. unfortunately, the senior gm also told me that it was irrelevant

This was looked into and we just couldn't find your reference, Wicked.

Then of course there is this...

Q u o t e:
izikferil sounds like it could be hebrew
im going to <make up>something

Edit above mine as we can't use that type of language on the forums.

Do you really want to continue this, Wicked?

Q u o t e:
when i think of abusing animals,<removed>
(i'm not being facetious, that's honestly why the name disturbs me)

And your objection to all your other pet names??
Q u o t e:

izikferil is the gayest felguard name ever
seriously what sort of name is izikferil
then again, i got the worst pet names in general
my warlock got literally the worst names ever

If you'd like to see warlock pets have the ability to be renamed, ala hunter pets, the Suggestion Forum would be the proper venue to request this be considered by our developers.

mangling the language to try and fit the random name generated is pretty spurious

lehazik = damage, and is used commonly in the torah to descibe the legal/weighted damage of one action against another, there is no abuse connotation

Feril is not a hebrew word and in english (and a number of other of laguages) the deritive means wild or untamed, not animal

so in essence your literal mangled translation should be "Wild damage" which is a rather cool felguard name

there is not dimmunitive abbreviation of lehazik and your example above of izik actually is the raw form of the name Isaac - so again I fail to see how you can construe that lthe original name is representative of anything offensive

unfortuanately when I see that name the only thing I could attempt to contruct is wild Isaac, which is a bit lame but I'd have to string two seperate languages to make that leap

I'm with the blue on this one
