Another post about Gearscore.

First if this is in the wrong forum if you could kindly move it, Thanks. Looking for a blue response to at least know my concerns are noted.

I just returned to WOW after a 3 month break and I’m shocked to see how everything has to do with Gear Score.. I didn’t think it was possible that such a simple mod could change the game so much.

I really don’t see how blizzard can allow this to keep going, I have heard countless times a Blue say “ Bring the player not the class” But now it’s “ Bring the Gear Score not the player” People no longer look for a melee or for a ranged or a certain class it’s “you need X amount of GS”. I see players wearing items that are near useless to them just for a boost in GS. Some people wear half dps and half tank gear just to get above X amount and not even gemming or enchanting gear.

I really can’t see how this is working as intended. Gear Score has nothing to do with SKILL or play style, personality or dependability all of these take a back burner to Gear Score. Personally I have been turned down to instances I have cleared many times before, because of my GS. This mod is effecting how WOW is played and I’m sure most people would agree it makes the game less fun.

What happened to the days of spell power or DPS meaning something? I have played this game for 5 Years, This Account was created 11/23/04, I have 5 80’s and I have spent more money then I would like to admit on this game, but I love it , I would like to keep playing but I can’t see how it’s possible with Gear Score practically running the game. It’s almost like its s part of the game programmed by Blizzard(I know it’s not).

So this isn’t Wining or QQing about my gear this is me (A customer) telling you how I think/feel. You guys have killed Mod’s in the past AVR, Mana conserve to name a few and I think as a Company and as Gamers you should seriously think about getting rid of GS.

Unfortunately, Scaryguy, people will usually find a way to rate other people. They will come up with some arbitrary number that is supposed to measure your value.

If this addon wasn't available (i.e. our Developers stopped allowing it to work), then it would likely be something else. People would simply go back to inspecting your character or looking you up on the Armory. This addon and other methods simply reduce the amount of time it takes to gather the information.

If you believe that this addon and others like it should be disabled you'll want to post in the Suggestion forum, Scaryguy, that is the best place to provide any constructive feedback you have regarding the game.

Honestly though, if you don't like it, the best thing to do is to form your own group and make your own determinations as to why you to bring someone along.
