no wonder you give it to americans and europeans for free. because you just charge four times what its worth to canadians. thanks, but no thanks, i am not paying nearly $20 for a little keychain. i cant believe the guy on the phone even attempted to talk me into it. believe it or not canadians arent completely stupid, and we do recognize when we are being ripped off.

mhmm, i order internationally off the internet all the time, and the average shipping and handling cost i get is maybe $5-7. i guess the customs office must really hate little blizzard keychains, to charge so much customs fees on it.

/sarcasm

It's one thing to suggest that the shipping charge is too much for you, and I can understand that - we all bear only what we can afford, after all. I rather resent the implication that all of our Canadian customers are somehow less intelligent because they paid the necessary shipping costs. There is nothing 'dumb' about purchasing an Authenticator, and regrettably, international shipping charges apply. I assure you that there is no intent to take advantage of anyone. I believe that it is possible for you to express your concerns on the subject constructively and not caustically.

As the other posters in this thread have pointed out, international orders to Canada are sent via courier, and those packages (unlike domestic shipments), can be tracked as a result. If that additional charge is not amenable to you, then as Eilethalua pointed out, you might want to consider a Mobile Authentictor, if your device is compatible:

well you know what, maybe if i didnt have a baby to support and school to pay for i would be thrilled to throw that much money away on a keychain. but oh well, i guess i will just have to accept the fact that i will be hacked again in the future, and make my peace with it.

Actually, an Authenticator is merely a useful additional layer of security. While I heartily endorse them, there are other steps you can take to help secure your system, and being compromised is hardly an inevitability.

it is just a keychain. its just a keychain that does something for just a game. its literally the least important thing in the world i can think of to buy in the grand scheme of things that i should be buying. and not only is just just a keychain, but its a very small and lose-able keychain, which means at some point i would just inevitably have to buy it all over again because it will become lost.

At this point I'm not sure what the goal of your thread is, Naithi? Was your intention merely to degrade the value of the Authenticator?

Have you read my responses? I have presented another option in the form of the Mobile Authenticator (which often comes free of charge). Have you considered that option?

Not only that, but if you have an iPod, it's free also.

Well, iPod Touch, yes. I don't believe that it functions with a standard iPod.

S'okay! I just didn't want anyone to misunderstand.

Q u o t e:
as for the mobile authenticator - after all the things i have said so far on this thread it should be pretty clear that i am not likely to be somebody who owns an iphone.

It certainly would do me no credit to assume that. Regardless, there are several devices that it is compatible with, and I wouldn't presume that you have one device or another, but rather merely offered you the resources to check to see if what you have got is compatible.

Even if you can't afford to ship an Authenticator, I want to help! Please note that I also provided links to our security articles so you could take steps to help secure your system; even without an Authenticator. I'm sorry if the shipping costs seem unreasonable, but they are what they are =(. I'm afraid that we're not in a position to alter them at the moment. If you feel that we should investigate alternative shipping methods to bring the costs down (assuming that's possible), please contribute your perspectives to our Suggestions forum.

I hope your circumstances are such that, if you choose to do so, you can acquire one in the future without undue concern.

Please don't bash on the OP for her financial choices. I believe at this point she's gotten the information she needed (and the venting she wanted), and it truly doesn't contribute to lecture on spending habits no matter how tempting it may be.

Indeed!

And with that in mind, I'm going to lock this thread.
