Authenticator Placed on Account against will

So I was just chilling with some friends, when I suddenly got DC'd. Upon attempts to log back in, I was asked for an authenticator code. Evidently, I did not place this on myself, and I have heard of recent hackings of such conditions.

I would like my account to be placed on a temporary ban to avoid any damages to my account, and for this authenticator code to be removed.

I would appreciate it if any changes made to my account from the moment of this post could be reversed :)

Silver, please check your email for further instructions.

Also, please go over the information below. This no longer has an authenticator present so it shouldn't be necessary to call Billing, however - the chances are VERY high of this all repeating if the way they found your password/ID isn't found (and that is necessary information to add an authenticator).

--------------------------

If an account has been merged to a Battle.net, or if an email has been changed, or an authenticator added to the account (not the player's own) one of your first stops is going to be Billing. They need to get those sorted out first so the rest of the processes can continue.

Billing and Account Services
Phone Support - 1 (800) 59-BLIZZ (1 (800) 592 5499)
Live Representatives Available 7 days a week, 7am to 8pm Pacific Time
E-mail Support - Billing@Blizzard.com
Players in Australia should call 1-800-041-378
Players in Singapore should call 800-2549-9273
Players in Chile should call 1230-020-5554
Players in Mexico should call 001-888-578-7628
Players in Argentina should call 0800-333-0778
All other international players should call: (949) 955-0283

Now, it's very very important to figure out where the security breach occurred. If they CAN get back in, they WILL be back. That, unfortunately, you can count on.

These two stickies should prove helpful.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.

Same thing happened to me, gonna finish work tomarrow, go get a pre-paid visa, call blizz tell them to fix my acc, / remove the authenticator (that i didnt put on myself) then buy one. Ive been searching around the forums and this exact thing is happening to alot of ppl. Im pretty sure its only happening to ppl without authenticators.

Deuz, I see where it looks like you changed your password, and that authenticator is no longer present.

Please see if you can access this account. Also, please reference what I posted above. If whatever allowed this to happen is still active (malware, compromised email, etc.) the chances are VERY high they will be back.

Ok, This happened to me as well. Will Blizzard place an authenticator on an account that doesnt have one? I mean like say i did a bad thing will they put one in place until i get my character back or does that mean i have been hacked?

Ceilincat,

A friend apparently alerted us to this a bit earlier for you. This is already in process for investigation and the authenticator is no longer present. You should have a new password that was sent.

Now, again - to have added this they got hold of your password and ID. HOW that happened is vital information to keep this from happening again.

My account has been compromised. They changed my email and password and attached an authenticator.
I got it back now, but the authenticator still attached to him and i cant log in on my b.net account.

Please see if you can log in, Wynn - that was removed.

This was also put into process as a compromise, so you are in the investigation queue, although it may be a few days before you hear back from your Specialist on that.

Hey there, Shaydee. I'm very sorry to hear that you're having difficulty accessing your account. =/ Unfortunately, this is a very common trend: in many cases of compromise, an unauthorized party will associate an Authenticator with the account in order to prevent the registered user from logging in.

While this must be an incredibly frustrating situation for you, please know that Blizzard's In-Game Support and Account Services department will do all that they can to help you recover from your compromise. This includes recouping items, characters, and currency that were lost as a result.

To begin your recovery process, I'd encourage you to read through the following guide:

It should answer any questions that you might have about what to do to get your stuff back and what steps to take to help secure your computer and account. :)

Also, quick note! We can assist with the removal of the unauthorized Authenticator through multiple points of contact:

Please note that each of these contacts may not yield an immediate response. We understand that being locked out of your account is frustrating, though, so our representatives will do all that they can to assist you as quickly as possible. :)
