Q u o t e:
I agree.
I've proven that my account was compromised, but Blizzard turns a blind eye.
'Nope, sorry, get stuffed. We're not going to restore it. yes, we know over 220,000 accounts have been compromised, but sorry, nope, our decision is final. don't like it? tough $#!T.'
Ask for a clarification via web-form, and nope.. you've got to call the phone number. And the phone is never answered.
Great going, Blizzard.
First: please do not derail another player's issue to discuss your own. Second: I would be more than happy to help you get to the bottom of that situation, if you create a new post. When you do so, please list the name and realm of a character on the affected account.
Q u o t e:
after 5 years playing this game being responsible for my account and securing it i have no freakin idea how i got compromised..but it seems as if whoever is responsible has changed my email address so i cant even get into my account services. yes i checked the armory and everything that could be sold has been sold and everything that could have been taken out of the gbank also sold..try to call blizzard cant get ahold of em..perfect..all i can do is wait this is gettin out of hand..ohh and using our email addresses for our account names..was a brilliant idea.i'm kinda pissed right now..anyways
Typically, when something like this occurs it is due to phishing. Some phishing scams are extremely subtle, or take advantage of venues that you'd never expect; such as posting a phishing site within the 'sponsored' section of a popular search engine. Also, please make sure to run more than a 'standard' virus scan, as they often miss spyware such as keyloggers. Also, please have your World of Warcraft client open, with gibberish typed into the account name and password fields, to help you 'catch' the sneakier pieces of malware.
The use of an email address as your account name was probably not a contributing factor to your compromise. I believe that if those that consider the situation allow reason to prevail over gut feelings on the subject, they will recognize that a standard account name would be just as vulnerable. In addition, under the Battle.net system, it is now possible to effectively change one's account name, and option which was simply unavailable prior.
I know you're frustrated, but our staff will be more than willing to help you as soon as they can. Please try to bear with us as you move through the queue to have your case investigated.
