WTB Mastery system clarification

Here is what I understand:
- each talent tree can provide three passive benefits
- the first two benefits I will call "bonuses", the last benefit I will call the "mastery"
- a character only receives the mastery benefit from the tree he has the most talent points spent in
- the mastery benefit caps at 51 points spent in the tree
- the bonus benefits do not cap at 51 points, e.g. if a tree had bonuses to crit damage and mana cost reduction, a player who spent 51 points in the tree would get a smaller bonus to crit damage and mana cost reduction compared to the player that spent 52 or more points in the tree

Is this correct?

Your last bullet is incorrect. The passive benefits cap at 51 points. You can improve your third passive bonus by acquiring mastery rating on gear.
