Did you friend pay for 2 months worth of play time and/or reach his/her second billing cycle? If and when this happens, you will be eligible for the mount.

It looks as if you received the free month, but because he referred a friend of his own, he recently received a free month which will not count as purchased game time. As soon as his purchases that second month, you'll be eligible to claim your mount. :)
