Password retrieval, failed....

I share a computer with someone who had their account hacked.

So I changed passwords and contacted a gm. They said do some scans...done.

I continued to have have problems so as I worked on trying to make certain the system was secure I continued to change my password.

Now I tried to call customer service, which is a last ditch effort, only to get a recording saying they are busy and call back. What happened to waiting for service? How many times do I need to call back? How am I to know when they will be available to take my call?

The reason I called Customer Service (sic) was I changed my password for my email as well as my account and cannot gain access to either one. On the OLD Blizzard system there was a means to still gain access to the account without access to your email address or your password, however since Bliz merged with...that other company whos name must not be spoken....there is no option to do this.

I understand that problems do occur which are beyond your control even though the entire WOW system is in your control....errr...or maybe not...but really... I gotta ask, why not answer your phones?

And how do I gain access to the account?

It appears the characters on the other account are gone....

Is it possible to still save my characters?

Q u o t e:

I did send my cell phone number inside my email...so hopefully?

Anyone else have suggestions as to how to access my account?

Thank you in advance for you time and assistance in this matter!

I'm sorry to hear that your friend was compromised. If you mailed [email protected] from the account's registered email address, then our staff may be in a position to help. Your post would seem to suggest that you have neither access to your account or your registered email address currently though, so it may be in your best interest to continue to attempt to call. Unfortunately, if you do not have access to the registered email address of the account, that may be your only option - though it was good to provide your phone number in the email you sent.

This link could help you reset your password as well, though, and is worth investigating first.

I'd like to reassure you that as far as I can tell, your account has not yet been accessed by a third party - though I should qualify that my assessment is based on a relatively cursory examination.

First, the security links in our sticky should help you along the road to securing the system you both play from:

Please note that if your compatriot was the victim of a phishing scam, that there probably won't be any traces on your system. Also, when running scans, it's wise to have the World of Warcraft client open, with gibberish typed into the fields. Some keyloggers are 'sneaky' and will effectively hide until those conditions are fulfilled.

While no restoration is ever guaranteed, in the event that an account becomes compromised, our staff work to provide as complete a recovery as possible.
