So I've noticed a lot of World of Warcraft references (some complete with shots from in game) in some recent primetime network shows. The ones I've seen have been Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. There may or may not be others (excluding South Park of course).

Has me wondering. Is Blizzard the one trying to get these plugs or is it the shows contacting Blizzard? I am assuming permission is needed somewhere along the line to use in game footage.

Just something I'm pondering on a slow Wednesday...

It was mentioned in the new show Moonlight as well recently. (*Bah, Epic beat me to it.) Things are mentioned all the time in different shows based on popular culture of the time. It gives people that watch those shows the sense that the writers and by extension, the characters, are in touch with what the viewers are involved with in their own lives.
