Ok so the hacker activity is definitely higher now a days... (thank you again for restoring my account! got the computers secure again!)

but i'm finding it kind of funny that they actually took time to play my characters. haha

I'm finding toons all over the world in random places with random accomplishments (aka running WC or this or that) anyone else notice this after being hacked?

Those are most likely side-effects of them using the character for something else.

Mining, herbing are very common.

I logged on to my DK, to find him parked 2 lightyears in the air, not on a mount. Yep i fell to my death.

One other thing, when I logged on to my DK, the hacker actually left 13 titanium ore. Prospected and got myself a cardinal ruby !

Yeah, well - we know what they were doin, huh.

Unfortunately, compromisers have zero respect for the rules, or players or the game itself.

Something to keep in mind the next time you hear someone talking about buying gold being 'no big deal' and that it's a victimless crime. Everyone is a victim, both the compromised player, their guildmates and anyone around them.

Q u o t e:
Do the hackers even make a profit? Do only a small percentage of the hackee's actually get their account recovered and gold/etc restored?
Do they sell gold to people who are dumb enough to fork over their money five seconds before the gold is stripped off them?

Pretty much, yes.

Trafficking in illicit virtual goods is reportedly a multi-billion dollar a year business. Guess there is a high profit margin in selling air when you don't have to give refunds >,<
