So I was hacked last night, and my guild was disbanded. Some people thought it would be fun to take the name and try and get 40k from me.

Hey there, Jesslyn. I'm very sorry to hear that your account was compromised and that another player is seemingly trying to exploit that hardship. =/

I can see that your account has already been reported as compromised, however, and is currently in queue for a restoration. Just for reference, full account restorations following an account compromise are requiring approximately 7 to 8 days to complete right now. While this is a notable wait, it's great time to ensure that your computer and account are appropriately secured. If you'd like any tips or suggestions on how to ramp up your security, go ahead and take a peek at this step-by-step guide:

Now, with respect to your guild's name being "held for ransom" (so to speak) I would sincerely encourage you to either open a new petition on a different character or send an email to [email protected]. While your account compromise is linked with the possible harassment you've experienced, the issues are not one-in-the-same and so are best addressed separately.

Within your petition or email, be sure to include/note the following information:

  • That your account was compromised and, as a result, your guild was disbanded.
  • That another player on your realm apparently learned that your guild was disbanded. Following, that player decided to claim the guild name before you had an equal opportunity and is now attempting to exhort 40,000g from you, offering your guild name back in exchange for the sum of money.
  • That your account compromise has already been reported and escalated, and that you're simply attempting to get this case of possible harassment investigated correctly.
  • Your name and realm, and the harassing player's name and realm.
  • The times and dates on which you were contacted about the guild name and/or 40k "ransom."

Our Game Masters will be happy to look into the situation further and assist in any way possible. :)
