Account Hack

So I recently decided to take a break from WoW until Cataclysm was released. I cancelled my subscription just a few days ago, but it was already paid for until the middle of June (oh well). Yesterday I decided to log in to 'check in' and my password had been changed. I checked my e-mail and not only had my password been changed but I had receieved a 72 hour ban for exploiting the game. I hadn't been on for about a week so I was very shocked as you can imagine. I quickly changed my password back as the e-mail let me and quickly reported the issue. This morning I tried to log in again and blizzard had removed the ban yet my account was totally massacred. My rogue had been stripped of everything valuable (worth gold). The only things I had were the items that didn't sell to a vendor (pvp gear, some bags, etc.) I lost my warglaives, my raiding gear, collectibles I've had for years and so much more. Not only was my rogue attacked, but my level 80 shaman had actually been deleted along with my 80 death knight and 29 warlock. All of my other characters were simply stripped as my rogue was. I petitioned this to blizzard and I assume they're investigating the issue. I realize it will take some time because A LOT of damage has been done to my account.
I was just wondering if everything could actually be restored as it would be some kind of miracle if it was. I've put in over 250 days of playing time into this account and to have all of my hard work go to waste in an instant would be heartbreaking.

Promptly reported compromises typically have good results, Sam.

What's critical at this point is to find out how they got ahold of your information. If they CAN get back in - they WILL be back.

This sticky may prove useful.
