Extremely unhappy with my treatment by Bliz

Alright today i was banned, not a day after finally getting my account restored to me after having the password changed on me while i was taking a break from wow.

On the 16th of May i sent an email to [email protected] requesting them to lock my account, because after the attempt to return to wow i had noticed my password had been changed. I received a password change email on the 21st of April, and then on the 8th of May someone transferred my character to another server. [email protected] replied and said that they had found someone else had accessed my account and they would be locking it while i went through certain steps to secure my computer and email address. On the 19th of May (Melbourne, Australia time) i called the Blizzard billing hot-line, where i talked to a lady about my issue. She assisted me via viewing my web-form and unlocking my account on the spot (I'm sure a note was left on my account).

I was also informed that the transfer was not able to be reversed, so today the 20th of May i decided to spend $55USD to transfer + faction change my character so i could once again play with friends. I farm some saronite for a few hours to make my Ornate Saronite set (Yes.. i logged out as soon as i got the 205 required to make it) as i was half naked and had 30gold.. I log off about 5hours after transferring to go out (yes I'm sure you can verify this with your logs), and i come home to log back on and run some heroics with a friend only to find i am banned.

What was the purpose of assisting me to recover my account if you wait for me to spend $55 to get it back in order, and then ban me not 6hours later for some stupid reason "Abusing the Economy".. I hardly think that its possible to do so with only 30gold and half a set of blue gear.

Please explain to me why [email protected] would neglect to inform me prior to restoring my account that it was about to be banned for whatever reasons, because i have now spent $55USD (alot more in AUD) to move my character + faction swap so i could play with friends.

I don't think its fair after going through the wait of recovering my account that i should have to deal with this now.

You are posting on another account, I'll at least need a character name/realm of the account in question to look into this. I don't see that in your information above - unless I overlooked it.

So - you found some keyloggers - but you are CERTAIN your system is clear?

You are positive - and that your email is secure?

Because there was a brief 1 min 5 sec access from the same guys that caused this in the first place....today.

I'm having this looked into a bit further and have no answers yet - but I really really recommend you triple check security - as well as get an authenticator for your account.

I also wouldn't hurt to set up a new, pristine - and unrelated email for your WoW account from a known secure computer. One benefit of Battle.net is that also changes your login info.

You might want to try something specifically aimed at malware as well.

You found 4, there could easily be more that weren't identified.

And yes, attaching an authenticator is an excellent idea on this account.

Just an aside - I'd have the person with the account you are posting with change their password IMMEDIATELY - their account is also now at risk from logging into the forum from an infected system.

Or are you posting from another?

Ok, as far as this account's status....

I did ask this be looked at.

At this point, what they've instructed me to have you do is file a formal dispute over this with Account Administration.

That is normal on all disputes, but they want to make sure your case is looked at indepth by the correct department.

You need to email [email protected] so they can get to looking into this for you.

In the meantime, I'd continue working on security measures from your side. Hopefully they'll be able to get back with you before too long on this.

I know this must be frustrating but that is going to be the quickest way to have this formally reviewed.

I do appreciate your patience, and best of luck on those scans. Some malware can be a true bear to find - and even harder to make sure it's all removed.

Q u o t e:
Orlyia ZoneAlarm is finding quite a few files that BitDefender did not, is it possible i give you the code on my authenticator to attach to my account?

Well, see my post above - as long as the account is in it's current status - one small saving grace is....it's safe :)

I emailed them my opening post (well most of). How long am i going to have to likely wait? If its going to be over the weekend is it possible that billing re-fund my debit card for the transfer and faction change, as i will now likely need to spend money to entertain myself on the weekend. (My plan was to run heroics with friends to gear up).

Also can you tell me what time the other party accessed my account for 1minute 5seconds?

My depth of information isn't quite that detailed I'm afraid.

As to a refund - if you wanted that reversed it could likely be done - but it would take longer to actually receive the funds than when you want to use them given your situation.

Hopefully Account Administration will get to this fairly soon - but I'm unsure what their queue times are at the moment.

I can confirm your email is here in their box - matter of fact....there are two of them :)

Also, it's a good idea to have the launcher up with some gibberish in the fields as you scan.

Some of these sneaky little devils won't wake up to be spotted unless the launcher is active.
